Breakfast with Santa

On November 27th, Southgate Centre hosted the annual Breakfast with Santa event in support of United Way.  Hundreds of people attended this great fundraising initiative raising over $2300.  United Way would like to thank Southgate Centre and 104.7 Heart FM for sponsoring the event, all the volunteers who helped make it a success and to Santa for taking the time out of his busy schedule to join us for breakfast.  We would also like to thank Woodstock Police Services, Oxford EMS and the Woodstock Fire Department for coming out and supporting this initiative.

Stair Climb

United Way is proud to announce that over $33,700 was raised at the 2011 Stair Climb events.  The morning began with 627 secondary school students participating in the student climb.  For the 8th straight year, IDCI was crowned Stair Climb Champions!

Later that same evening, 17 corporate teams signed up to participate in the adult challenge sponsored by Rochdale Credit Union.  RBC was crowned the 2011 Stair Climb Champions.

Congratulations to everyone that participated and climbed over 1000 steps in support of our community!

TMMC Golf Tournament

On September 10, 2011 Toyota’s Facilities West held a charity golf tournament with proceeds benefiting United Way Oxford.  Our many thanks to this great team for their hard work and continued support.  This great day raised $5000 for United Way.

Good Neighbour Day

Good Neighbour Day is a great initiative that promotes a kind, caring and compassionate community through the gift of flowers.  On September 21st, members of our community stopped by Mostly Roses to pick up a dozen beautiful gerbera daisies.  In lieu of payment, a donation was made to United Way.  The idea was to keep one for yourself and give the other 11 away to brighten someone’s day.  This great initiative raised over $1642 for United Way Oxford.  Thank you to Lee-Anne from Mostly Roses and everyone who supported this great initiative.

John Worrall Invitational Golf Tournament

On September 2, 2011, the 4th Annual JOHN WORRALL INVITATIONAL GOLF TOURNAMENT (JWI) was held at Woodstock Meadows Golf Centre, with all proceeds going to United Way. With a great organizing committee, the support of many donors, volunteers and participants, the tournament was a great success raising $1330.

Downtown BIA Streetfest Cruise

On August 7th, the Downtown BIA held another successful Streetfest Cruise in support of United Way.  We are happy to report that over 200 cars took part in this family friendly event.  In total, $2,922.53 was raised for United Way.  A special thank you to the BIA, Crabby Joes, the organizing committee, and all of the volunteers and participants who made this event a great success.
